Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Elizabeth Conference Carlisle hosted their annual Friends of the Poor Walk Oct 1, 2022. We were 1 of 200 held around the USA, only one is IA this year! Thank you to Father George for leading our opening prayer. Also, to Don Davis for the wonderful music! Of course, we began with “Go Make A Difference” song by Steve Angrisano! Day was sunny & 60’s.
The success can be measured in 3 ways. 1) We were able to talk about what we do in the community! 2) We were able to fundraise with our whole community! 3) We were able to grow in membership and providing service opportunities for others to give, other than monetary means! The walk was so fun & a sign of solidarity with Christ & our service with others. We will be able to fill our 80 holiday baskets with turkeys & rolls. We all know costs are going to rise.
