Father Kirby’s Korner With a Little Help From Abby Barry

Last weekend we announced that our plan is to break ground for our parish event center, March 17, 2019.  For too long we have endured with unacceptable facilities and it is true, that conditions in our kitchen and bathrooms are reaching the point of being unusable without major renovations.

We have been tolerating “just good enough” for way too long.  Unfortunately “just good enough” is good enough for too many.  Sometimes a parish is treated more as a connivance for personal obligation rather than a human, living faith-community of Jesus Christ.

On the other hand there are those who are part of that living and active community who have tremendous investment in the people and well-being of this parish.  They are those who reject the “just good enough” mentality and are working hard and dreaming big for the future health and viability of our parish.

There are even those who look to the future and hopefully will one day be able to celebrate those big sacramental moments in their lives in the midst of this  parish’s walls and people.  If something is not done now these events will likely not happen in our parish, but somewhere else.

“I am really excited for our new church in the future for many reasons and these are some of the reasons. One is that we could have more, bigger, and cleaner bathrooms instead of ours today. Also we would have a Mass overfill and a parish hall separate so if we need to set up a breakfast we can set up before church and won’t have to wait for church to finish. Another reason is that we would have a much larger and cleaner kitchen with a walk in cool area to use. My final reason I’m going to share is that we would have more parking and a bigger parish hall so we could hold weddings, wedding receptions, and funerals. These are some of my reasons why I can’t wait for groundbreaking on March 17th, 2019.—Abby Barry”

Let’s make Abby’s dream be a reality. All in to grow, for the life and future of our parish.
