Friends of the Poor Walk – 7th Annual

Join us at the beautiful, breathtaking Scotch Ridge Nature Park Trail on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Your donations help us help others with emergency needs, utilities, food, clothes, furniture, transportation, holiday baskets (70), toys and monetary monthly gifts to the area food pantry and meals.

St. Vincent de Paul of Des Moines serves more than 27,000 individuals a year with food, clothing, shelter, and financial assistance. There is a new second location at 520 Army Post Rd., and the food pantry has served 500 people a month! Donations and household items are welcome at the sites or you can call for a pick-up, 515-282-8327. The thrift store income helps provide our services!

You can register in advance online at or on the day of the event at 8:30 a.m.  The walk begins at the Carlisle Middle School at 9:30 a.m.  Food, beverages, door prizes and music will be provided! There will be a shuttle available. Event ends at 11:00 a.m.

Thank you to our many sponsors! Advertising and volunteer opportunities are available.

Event sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Elizabeth Seton Conference, Carlisle Iowa.  This will be one of over 250 walks happening all over the United States that weekend.
